2019 Venezuelan presidential crisis
United States Federal law enforcement agents invade Embassy of Venezuela in Washington, D.C. and arrest four Americans who were there at the invitation of Nicolás Maduro's administration and were preventing the takeover of the Embassy by pro-Juan Guaidó people, in violation of Article 22 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and Articles 27, 31, and 33 of the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations.
In clear violation of international law, police broke into Venezuela’s embassy in Washington DC, arresting activists invited by staff. They prevented the building from being seized by US-backed coup leader Juan Guaido’s people.
