Separatists in Catalonia launch a general strike in protest of the trial of Catalonia independence leaders, with major participation of the educational community. Demonstrators block major roads, highways, train tracks and the entrance to the port of Tarragona.
The Supreme Court sends to preventive prison the Speaker of the Parliament of Catalonia, Carme Forcadell. She leaves the prison the next day, after the payment of a bail. Four of the members of the Bureau of the Parliaments are condemned to pay a fine, while one of them not receives any precautionary measure.
Five other members of the Bureau of the Parliament and the Speaker face similar charges, but each case will be handled by the Supreme Court due to their parliamentary immunity.
The Spanish government announces that it is breaking off dialogue with the government of Catalonia, escalating the regional crisis.
